Sassafras
Sassafras is an energetic 6-piece dance band specializing in weddings, corporate parties, and
special events. We are former national touring artists and studio musicians settled in southern
California with years of performing experience.
Sassafras entertains with an emphasis on classic rock and adds a wide-range of styles including, pop, disco, R & B, country, jazz, and motown. Lead singer, Tina von Trotha began performing for The Event Consultants' clients in the early 1980's and is well versed in customizing the band's performance to your event.
Bass: Bucky
Former guitarist for Kenny Rogers, Little Richard, The Coasters and the Drifters. He currently
manages the musical production department for a Los Angeles company writing and
recording commercials (“jingles”) for clients advertising on television and radio.
Drums: Mike
Mike began performing in San Diego at age 12 and has held the peddle to the floor ever since.
He has toured and recorded with Steely Dan, The Allman Bros, Bread, Emerson Lake and
Palmer, Beach Boys, The Four Tops, The Drifters, The Temptaions, Doobie Brothers and
appeared on David Letterman and Johnnie Carson.
Lead Guitar: Gary
A Southern California player for over 24 years after touring with Rounder Records recording
artists Barbara Lynn, Smokey Wilson, Guitar Shorty and a country favorite Due West. Gary is
a martial arts and fitness fanatic and owns a large construction business in Rancho Palos
Verdes.
Rhythm Guitar: Eddie
With over 30 years of experience under his belt, Eddie has played hundreds of LA and OC
venues with various bands. His influences span the spectrum of rock, rhythm and blues, latin
and soul genres.
Lead Singer: Tina
A singer, guitarist and tap dancer since age 6, her influences came from her musical family.
While a business manager for CBS recording artists, she toured with Heartsfield opening
concerts for REO Speedwagon, Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Jethro Tull, and
Firefall.
Keyboards: Kathleen
If you’ve been on a cruise ship or at one of dozens of Las Vegas casinos, you’ve probably seen Kat play with any number of groups over the past 15 years. She toured nationally for over 10 years. She has settled down in Southern California and often records with many R & B and
disco acts.
